CWSN organized a Street Drama at Janakpur in coordination with Aasaman Nepal (CWSN's partner NGO) on 31st October, 2013, as one of the communication campaigns. Based on the advocacy campaign slogan, “A Caring Family is a Child’s first right", the street drama was performed, entitled as “My Family is My First Right”.

The main objective of organizing such program was to spread the greater awareness among the general public about importance of role of family in child rights protection. As Janakpur (also known as Mithilanchal) has been the center of folk dances and dramas since the 5th century, it has been decided that street drama will be the effective means of delivering the campaign’s message. There were all together four shows of the drama in the different villages (Mauwahi, Bhutahi, Parewa, and Nikash) of Mithileshwor, Janakpur. The places were selected on the basis of their socio-economic background as they were of marginalized groups.

There were a total of eleven actors in the drama, including the different characters like family members, neighbours, witch-doctor etc. The total time frame of each show was of 35 minutes. The singing break of chorus and other musical instruments made the drama more interesting and lively.  In order to deliver the message more effectively it was performed in the local (Maithili) language. The participation of the audiences in each place was quite remarkable during the drama performance.
