Essay Competition for school children was another communication campaign organized by CWSN in coordination with ED- JUS (Centre for Human Rights Education Cum Access to Justice) Nepal on May and June at Dhangadhi, Kailali. Based on the slogan of our advocacy campaign, "Caring Family is the Children’s first right", the title of the competition was selected as “District Level Essay Competition for School Children, Kailali”. More than 200 students got participated in the competition from 19 schools. Out of total 200 essays, District Education Office collected only 37, from different schools and the jury team selected the winners of the competition from the 2nd half of May to 1st half of June.

The prize distribution program was organized on 19th June, 2013 at Sathi Hotel, Dhangadhi, Kailali. It was entitled as “The Role of Stakeholders in Child Protection and the Prize Distribution Ceremony of Essay Competition”. There were a total of 29 participants including students, teachers, journalists as well as other individuals from different governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Harina Joshi of Saraswati Higher Secondary School, Olani, Khem Thapa of Karnali Secondary School, Tikapur and Tara Kathayat of Kalika Higher Secondary School, Rajipur, secured first, second and third prizes respectively. Furthermore, five other students out of total competitors, got consolation prizes in the competition.

Ms. Chitra Paneru honored all the winners and jury team with Khada (Shawl), Mr. Bhim Bahadur Saud, The District Education Officer, distributed certificates and Mr. Devendra Gurung, the Chief Program Coordinator of CWSN, distributed prizes to all the winners of the competition.
