Civil Society Alliance for Child Rights in South Asia (CSACRSA) project implemented in Nepal by CWSN conducted a two-day ‘Child Rights Awareness Training’ for the teachers and school administrators in Dhangadi (Kailali district) on 25-26, September 2012. Child and the rights of children, Legislations and Policies on Children, Child Friendly Teaching and Learning Atmosphere and Roles of Teacher in Child Protection were the major components of the training programme.

The training was designed considering the findings of the stakeholders survey carried out a year before. A total of 25 participants, including 20 teachers from different schools and 5 representatives of the national alliance partners from the region participated in the training. After the training, the teachers felt that the training was extremely important for them to perform their roles and duties in a child friendly manner and to contribute to the protection of children in the local community.

Similar training on Child Rights was also organized for the Trade Union Members representing different trade unions in Biratnagar (Morang district) on 9-10, November, 2012. The focus of the training was the role of Trade Unions in Child Protection, protection of child labours in particular. In this training also 25 participants took part.
